Moxie, Strider and I are wrapping up a long 4th of July weekend. It’s been wonderful. We swam, saw fireworks, grilled, and spent time together. It is Sunday and I am starting to stress about all the things we “need” to get done. But right now we are napping and it looks like this:
Moxie has been doing more with her music. Now that she can crawl she heads one of two places: the dog water bowl or her piano. She really enjoys music. I’m pretty sure she is crazy talented.
This may take a while to load.
I’m actually not sure it works, given I don’t have the patience.

Here are two videos of Moxie crawling. It’s a whole new world folks. She can get anywhere! We have really had to up our game recently. No more hot glue guns, curling irons, or broken glass laying around anymore. The first video is her first time crawling. The second is more recent–she’s doing much better. She does an asymmetrical move that she learned from her friend at daycare. It’s weird but it gets her around the house and into trouble.
She can now walk with her little cart from ikea. Footage to prove it soon.
Aunt Peg made Moxie a beautiful quilt. She loves looking at the colors and playing on it. It is such a generous and thoughtful gift. It is also pretty cool because I got a quilt made by Aunt Peg when I was a baby too! Mine is called “Jessica’s Farm.” So. Cool.
We went to Qdoba the other night because no one wanted to cook and Moxie wanted to chew on someone else’s table for a while. So we did. This is our local Qdoba and the kind of know us. Moxie got free black beans (you can see them on her mouth).
It took Jess 22 years and Strider 26 years to eat Ethiopian food. It only took Moxie 9 months! She only ate the injera and carrots but still! So proud!

So excited to be back in Colorado! This piece is a long time coming–we were actually out in Colorado in early May. It has taken us this much time to come down from all the Rocky Mountain High. We spent a few days in Colorado Springs at the LR&R and then a couple nights closer to Boulder to celebrate the graduations of Jonathan, Laura, and Chris. We are so proud and so happy we got to participate.
Moxie’s feet barely touched the ground. She had a great time meeting friends and causing trouble. She’s a social girl and she loves her some attention. Boy. She got it. She keeps asking when we will go back again. Dad and I just aren’t fun enough.

Well. We got a great haul this week. Things I recognize even! Last week our friends Mary-Gray and Andrew taught us to cook chard. Whole new world friends. Whole new world.
