We had double first baths this week.  Keen lost the last of her umbilical cord so she got a bath and Deuce (a dog toy that looks like Samantha’s bull terrier) got one too!  We saved the baby bath stuff from the hospital and Moxie got to play along. Both Keen and Deuce escaped super clean.

Keen didn’t love the bath–more tolerated it.  She kept her hands in fists and had a stink eye expression the whole time.
Moxie took her work very seriously.

Everyone will recognize the Johnson and Johnson baby bath.  Mamas will recognize the squeeze bottle.
Post bath nose pick.

“Seriously dad?”
After her bath we noticed that Keen’s hair has just a tiny bit of curl to it.

Moxie has discovered the fun of chewing washcloths.  Previously bathing Moxie required two washcloths: one for her body and one for her head.  Now we need three.  Moxie grabs the first wet washcloth she can get her hands on and chews and sucks on it from beginning of bath all the way through to getting on her PJs.  It is really cute and hopefully harmless.  It’s ok to eat baby soap right?

When Strider and I moved out east we were lucky enough to rent Jerry Mark’s house.  It is a really cool place with bad ass features like toilet paper holders that are also radios, cool kitchen linoleum, cool modern furniture, beautiful hardwood floors, and a sink in the bathroom perfect for baby baths.  Moxie usually takes her bath in the bathtub inside a baby bath.  We decided to try bathing her in the ultra hip sink.  She is starting to play with her toes and toys while getting a bath.  She really likes to kick her feet out randomly while bathing–which really makes the whole thing much more exciting for mom.

Many of you have commented on the craziness that is Moxie’s mop.  Well, we thought we would treat you all to an especially stand up performance by those sweet brown locks.

Last night was bath night.  She really needed it.  She had full on cheese neck, dirty finger nails, troll  toe nails and her hair was out of control.  As we were drying her off I thought it would be funny to comb her hair into a little mohawk.  Here’s how that looked:

She’s very serious about her look. Her parents aren’t.

When she went to bed she played with her hair while nursing, as she always does, and went to bed.  She didn’t sleep super well (we are thinking a growth spurt/teething combo) but, what the photo below indicates, she definitely didn’t touch any electrical outlets.

This isn’t static. It’s an anti-gravity field around her dome.

Anyway, her hair has been the topic of many a conversation and we would like to keep it that way.  Anything to divert attention to her monster feet.

Well, sadly, Grandma and Grandpa left yesterday.  Team Dorsey really helped out with the Moxster.  It took a village for most things to happen.  This includes baths, diaper and outfit changes, and naps.  Having an extra few sets of hands helped with just about everything.  Ron and Carmen perfected the two-person diapering/clothes snapping.  Seriously–they could take show on the road.  We will miss the patient pacing, rocking, and patting of Grandma during Moxie’s grumpy evenings.  For now we just leave her on the floor for Gyges to comfort.
