Today was Jess’s first day back at work and Moxie’s first (almost) full day at Rita’s.  Bibi is here helping with the transition (taking Moxie to Rita’s and picking her up) so Jess and Strider can get their schedules set.

Moxie comes home smelling like curry and very happy.  We really like Rita and she loves Mox.  This is going to be a really tough week but Bibi and Rita are making it much easier.

Jess only cried three times today.  Hopefully we can cut it down to two tomorrow.

Moxie has a pet giraffe.   Aunt Sam bought Moxie the giraffe before she was even born.  Given the Post-9/11 ban on exotic animals flying commercial, we haven’t been able to get Moxie and Twiga together.  She hasn’t ever met Twiga but their relationship has already started.  We’ve had some Twiga sightings.

This is a really fun cool thing Sam, Bibi, and Babu are setting up for Moxie.  We thought we would share the first few photos with you.  We will keep everyone updated on Twiga’s adventure.

We have decided to start sharing the joy of Twiga with all of your.  This became especially timely when Twiga made an appearance in Bethesda of all places!

While Bibi and Babu visited this week instead of hanging out around town, eating out at fun places, and taking in the Washington sites: we put those folks to work.  Turns out–if you want to hang with Moxie you have to pay the toll.  We rearranged furniture in the living room and hung photos:
Spread out the furniture, hung art, hung curtains, got a dog.  Oh wait–we already had the dog.

We FINALLY put together Moxie’s room.  We originally intended to do a robot theme and have totally failed… but what came together looks pretty good.

Bibi hanging some Tinga Tinga license plates.  Moxie will enjoy looking at them while she burps.

Babu sets up the lighting, reading hanger, and rocking chair ready for Moxie late night.

Finished product part 1.

Finished product part 2.

Little rocking, reading, burping corner.

Super cute animal paintings given to Moxie by Aunt Peg, Anna, and Grace.

Animal hanging from Tony, toy box my Sam, and toys provided by various Moxie fans.

Strider and I own a lot of art.  About two thirds of our stuff remains in boxes.  Luckily we could pick out the art boxes pretty easily  We hung some on the wall (see above and below).

We hung shelves and put boxes in the guest bathroom.  They will be filled with things.  Strider can’t even think of all the fun stuff he will put in there.
Strider felt left out of the photos.  He decided this would be his contribution to the set.

We got a whole lot done.  It feels good.  We are all set for Moxie (at some point) to move into her room and get going on phase two: painting all the walls black, covering the windows, and opening our dream business–laser tag.

Good god. We are clueless as parents.

Sure, we have seen “Look Who’s Talking,” “Look Who’s Talking Too” and, sad to say it, “Look Who’s Talking Now.” So we know baby psychology. We took infant care and CPR so we know not to leave a baby unattended on the changing table and that dads need to eat too. However, we know nothing in between. Know how we figured it out? Teresa Lee. She helped us figure it. And she kept us fed and clothed. She has stayed with us for two weeks and we needed her every second.

With Bibi leaving, it looks like
we’ll have to finally buy that nasal aspirator.

She leaves tomorrow and I am not sure I can handle it.
