Our dear friend (nemesis) Forde has a fellowship at Dumbarton Oaks. He is on his way to being the boss of the archaeological world. Forde took a break from being a fancy pants to hang out with us regular folks and gave us a VIP tour of the grounds.
We got to see the birthing figure that inspired the piece Indiana Jones traded for a bag of sand in Raiders of the Lost Arc . Turns out it is likely a fake! The whole movie is ruined for me. Seriously. Sigh.
This year for New Year’s Eve Strider and I fully intended to go to bed at 8 pm and just accept our life as parents of a toddler. BUT Hannah–our darling cousin–invited us out for dinner to Max’s and we decided to just get crazy and hit a bar too. Moxie got a hat and a noise maker. She thought that was pretty fabulous. The Dorsey-Lees were in bed by 9:30. Woot woot!
Like father like daughter. Moxie is a HUGE fan of PB&J. She had her first one while visiting grandma and grandpa over thanksgiving. She’s had a few between. Tonight we grabbed dinner at the mall before hitting the indoor play place (livin’ last vida loca) for some shoe free fun time.
I ordered her a grilled cheese so she and I could split tomato soup and the sammy. They mixed up and Mox scored: white bread, peanut butter and grape jelly. The fact it was grape jelly instead of strawberry is the only reason Strider didn’t punch Mox and steal her dinner.
Anyway, homegirl loves it! She got special water (seltzer) in a cup with a straw, a tube of yogurt (strawberry flavor instead of the plain she usually gets, and her own sandwich.
You know, we do have a really good life.
We spent Thanksgiving with Grandma and Grandpa in Wichita. We got to do lots of fun things: the zoo, the park, lights in the Botanic Gardens–it was really fun. We are waiting to get the real photos but we have some from our iPhones.
Here’s the lights at the gardens–Moxie was absolutely in love with all the flashing lights and music.
