A few weeks ago Moxie had a play date with her friend Vivi. It was great timing because we had to spend that morning with Keen at the doctor, who ended up being fine but had a high temp. Anyway, Moxie got to go see the dancing dragons for the Chinese New Year! She got to have snacks, bang on a drum, and eat a fortune cookie.
Well, it happened. It finally happened. Moxie puked her brains out. A lot. We’d made it 2.5 years without a stomach bug in our little Rocket but our number got drawn and it has hit us like a ton of bricks. Best news? Keen caught it too! An 8 week old baby with dry heaves is pretty heartbreaking. We are comforted by the fact that neither of them will remember this.
Moxie has been home all week. Wednesday and Thursday we had strider home in part due to the epic snowfall in the DC area and in part because my hair was starting to fall out. I’d like to say the week has looked mostly like this:
And this:
But honestly it has looked more like this:
This morning Keen needed some diaper free time and Moxie helped entertain her by singing. After the song Moxie said, “I’m a good helping big sister.” It was absolutely heart melting. I wonder how long she will like helping…
Our preschool hosts dinners at a local restaurant called El Gulfo. The food is pretty good and they are really nice to kids. Also: there’s always a performer for the kiddos. Moxie (seen above) loves to be in the front of the crowd.
Keen and Grandma watch the other folks. Keen is terrified.
Mox got her face painted like an elephant. She now uses toothbrushes, sticks, and food to “paint her eyebrows.” This is where she got it from.
Know who takes ice cream (frozen yogurt) seriously? Moxie.
She knows the ice cream (frozen yogurt) store, she walks in announcing to the whole place what flavor she wants. Tonight she came in yelling “vanilla” and then “chocolate” (the only two flavors she knows). So she got a small cup with a small pile of chocolate (that she immediately licked). Then she got
to pick her toppings. She chose her “favorites” (note: dirt would be her favorite if it was multicolored and on the set of options for toppings). She got gummy bears, gummy fish (just one), coconut, and rainbow sprinkles. Pretty amazing.
We had grandma here for two whole weeks! It was amazing. She kept us fed and clothed and happy. We are completely lost without her. Moxie got lots of special time with her Grandma and Keen got lots of snuggles.
We got to have movie night that included puppy wrestling and dog hair on the floor.
Keen got time to chill with Grandma and do her exercises.
