Mox usually ends up in our bed between 5-6 am most mornings. It is a nice time to snuggle and (try to) snooze a bit longer. I’m terrible at it. Strider and Mox, however, are pros. I ruined this photo with a bad crop job but the point of it is: they are totally asleep and totally up in each other’s personal space.

Moxie continues to LOVE chalk.  This a picture that Strider took but Google made awesome.  Anyone else seen the amazing work of Google Awesome? Holy Awesome.

Anyway, Moxie loves chalk.  Today (not the day this picture was taken) she chose an egg shaped piece of chalk and decided it was a baby.  She carried it under her shirt as she walked up and down the sidewalk, patting it and telling me to “shhh, baby sleeping.”

She really does have a holistic love of the medium.

As part of the process of getting to know her new school Silver Spring Day School hosted an ice cream social–complete with ice cream.  Moxie’s mind was blown.  Even more mind blowing: her Bibi and Babu showed up to join the party.  Mind. Blown.

She was really, really, really into the sprinkles.  Like crazy into them.

Strider got tapped to be the Class Scheduler for the Rolling 2s (Moxie’s class) and thus has to go early to help with things, set up, talk to people, and send emails.  I think he is doing a super good job at it and it meant that Moxie got a head start on the ice cream consumption.

When Bibi and Babu rolled in it got crazy.  Moxie saw them and started jumping and yelling “Ice Cream! Bibi! Babu!” over and over again.  She has a good life.  She got to play with her new classmates and now has a permanent positive association with her teacher.  Ms. Cathy=ice cream.  Well played teacher.  Well played.

We have had a couple of activity wins this weekend. Moxie is a great laundry unfolder, toy remover and all around uncleaner. She’s cute but hard to keep busy when you are trying to clean. This weekend we tried two activities.

The first: green foam block and golf tees was an idea of Aunt Bear’s. It worked great. Kept her busy for about 30 minutes with no help from us but showing her how to play. Drawback: she figured out she could crumble the foam and marched around the house leaving a trail of green behind her.
The second are brainbows we bought at a science store that grow to 200x their size and (theoretically) shrink back to the tiny balls after drying out. So wet they are the size of marbles and dry they are the size of pin heads. Anyway they are soft and pretty and really fun to play with. Drawback: they bounce all over. We will probably be cleaning up rainbow pin heads for a week.
No activity is awesome and mess free. We realize that. Mostly.

This week we had a visitor: Aunt Bear (or as Mox says, “Beh”)!  She stayed with Mox and Jess while Strider went to a conference in Colorado.  It was wonderful.  We went to the zoo, a graveyard, on walks, to music class, and even survived because Bear was here.  Seriously.  It would have been a mess without her.

Mox and Bear check out a snake.

Watching the orangutan cross by.

She loved the goats so much she wanted  to join them.

We wrapped up the day in a mess.

After a wardrobe change we walked around Oak Hills Cemetery
