Mox usually ends up in our bed between 5-6 am most mornings. It is a nice time to snuggle and (try to) snooze a bit longer. I’m terrible at it. Strider and Mox, however, are pros. I ruined this photo with a bad crop job but the point of it is: they are totally asleep and totally up in each other’s personal space.

In our attempt to help Moxie become self sufficient (and boot her from the crib before the next kid comes) we’ve taken off the rail and she’s in a big girl bed.

She helped her dad take the railing off. But then, after bath, when she came in and saw her bed she got really nervous. She danced a little, laughed in a weird way, and wouldn’t look at the bed. I really wasn’t expecting her to be this nervous.
We did our usual bed time routine but 2 hours later. After she got into bed she gripped her dad’s hand with a mighty monkey strength until she fell asleep.
We will let you all know how it goes.

For now: she’s asleep.

(found this at the bottom of my posts–talk about a blast from the past)

On Sunday morning Strider let me have a couple hours of extra sleep.  He and Moxie hung out for a while (she was super fussy–we think teething related) and they spent time in the living room.  Well, Moxie calmed down and the two of them fell asleep.  Turns out they are synchronized sleepers.  I walked out to the living room and what did I find? These two twin sleepers all covered up and stretched out with matching bed head too.  Moxie was asleep until I turned on the camera.  The only way you can tell them apart is the pacifier.

Everyone knows that Strider and I moved away from our parents, friends, and home just a few months after I found out I was pregnant.  Brilliant right?  Right. However, we had the good fortune of moving to a town full of people who love us.  We have family AND friends.  We are so lucky that those friends treat us like family.  Jacque and Doug have been excited about Moxie, very giving of their time and attention, and have just been wonderful.  We appreciate them so much.

On the topic of Jacque and Doug being good to us… Moxie has finally moved to her own room, into her crib and out of her bassinet.  Well, I shouldn’t say “her” bassinet.  The bassinet that Moxie spent her first 14 weeks of life in is a family bassinet lent to us by Jacque and Doug.  The bassinet has a long history and we are happy to have been a part of it.  I can’t believe she’s outgrown it.  I will miss all her weird sleeping sounds but I admit–I am sleeping much better these days.

We have arrived. Last night marks the fourth night Moxie has slept 6+ hours straight! Last night she made it 9 hours! From 1030 to 730!! It all seems pretty magical.

Now we are going to start figuring out how to transition her to her own room. Mostly because she is out growing her beautiful borrowed bassinet. Truth be told, I love having her sleeping right next to us. She makes the coolest noises. But–I’m going back to work in a week so sleep will become even more important.
